Just a short hop from Newcastle and a pleasant drive from the historic Corbridge Roman town and Hadrian’s Wall, Sovereign Lodge is a purpose-built home in the village of Westerhope. It is connected to its smaller adjacent sister home, Sovereign Court, and provides residential and respite care to those living with dementia.
The atmosphere of the forty four bed home is warm and friendly and we encourage our residents to make it as personal as possible, adding their own familiar items to their spacious rooms. We have a dedicated team of compassionate and committed carers, who strive to deliver the highest possible level of care. We offer: Residential Care, Dementia Care and Respite Care
Our purpose-built home in the village of Westerhope is brightly decorated and benefits from four lounges. Residents live as independently as possible, with a kitchen open to one of the lounges where guests can be catered for whilst socialising with friends or family.
Our large garden area is frequented by many of our green-fingered enthusiasts. People living with us often get involved in gardening interests and our bird watching club.
Our residents will be able to keep active and continue their individual interests as they would at home. Specialist Lifestyle Support workers are located within each home, planning in advance a full programme of engaging events and projects to promote social interaction while also targeting mental and physical stimulation for people living with us.
Our homes benefit from health and beauty treatments, baking, our dedicated male orientated “Men’s Sheds”, trips and many more. We try to engage with our local community as much as possible and have an open door policy for family and friends.
We recognise that mealtimes are a focal part of any day. Nutritional well-being is vital to maintaining a healthy mind and body. Our regularly reviewed menus with resident input, provide a well-balanced nutritious choice of food which also caters for people who require special diets. There is an alternative menu available just in case people would like a change. Drinks, snacks and nibbles including fruit are available through the day and the night.
We also welcome residents who like to bake, cook or help themselves when they would like. We can also cater for parties and celebrations for the people who live in our homes and their families and friends.
As its Mothers Day soon join us for High Tea on 11th March at 2.30 pm in our ‘Forget-me-not Café’ where residents will be having lots of coffee and cake and enjoying time together.
On 16th March we have the brilliant Michael Stevens, ‘Allow me to be Frank’ show at 2.00 pm in the Silver Saloon. He will be singing all those favourite hits.
On 23rd March at 6.00 pm we have a ‘Flashback to the Hits’ night and residents and staff will be listening to all those fabulous songs from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.
Sovereign Lodge has a history of welcoming volunteers to the home to support the people who are cared for and live in the home. We are hugely grateful to all of our volunteers and we are proud to bring the community closer to the people living in the home through our volunteers.
If you are interested in being a volunteer at Sovereign Lodge or any of our homes, please get in touch through the Contact Us form on this website.
