We have two units, one for general residential residents and another specifically for those with dementia. We are also a short walk from Westerhope main street which also offers a variety of shops, supermarkets, takeaways and cafes.

Daily Life

At Sovereign Lodge we have several lounge areas where residents can watch TV and movies, listen to music or play games, depending on their mood. We also have the Forget-me-not-Café where we serve high tea at least once a week and The Silver Saloon where our residents can sit and have a tipple in good company. We have a variety of entertainment on each month including singers, animal therapy, cocktail afternoons, singalongs and presentations. Every other Thursday we have our knit and natter group and the first Tuesday of each month our local church comes in to hold a small service with any residents who wish to join in.

Dining

Dining is a big part of life here at Sovereign Lodge. All meals are prepared fresh on the day either by our Head Chef Gary or second chef Robert ably assisted by kitchen assistants Kirsty and Gemma. We have a four-week set menu, however if you aren’t keen on the choices that day, alternatives are available. Our menus are reviewed regularly, and our residents’ input is welcomed. So, if there’s something you feel is missing from the menu, tell one of the kitchen staff and we’ll get it added.

Mealtimes are a focal part of any day and nutritional well-being is vital to maintaining a healthy mind and body. We cater for those with special diets. Times are as follows: Breakfast from 0800, Lunch from 1230 and dinner from 1630. Drinks, snacks and nibbles including fresh fruit are also provided throughout the day between meals and on a night-time.

" My mother was lucky enough to be offered a place at Sovereign Lodge in November 2018. Although her stay was short, the care they gave her in the final weeks of her life was exceptional. They not only looked after my mother with love and care they looked after the whole family. They gave support at a very sad time. No words can say how truly grateful we are as a family to every single member of staff. "

Martin B (Son of Resident)

" When my mum needed full-time care, Sovereign Lodge has the light at the end of an uncertain tunnel. From my first visit, the atmosphere of calm and reassurance was wonderful. Every member of staff treats my mum like family and I am always made so welcome. I have every confidence my mum is being well looked after and I can relax knowing how calm she is. "

Valerie M (Daughter of Resident)

" My mam has been a resident for seven years. She has advanced Alzeihmers so can't do anything for herself so we rely on the staff to do everything for her. All the staff are amazing. My mam is up, fed, washed and dressed every day. The staff are so hardworking and dedicated, they treat my mam with utmost respect and care. She is loved by them and I cannot praise them enough. The home feels like a home, love and laughter all around. The manager is so approachable, friendly and caring. I need never worry while my mam is in this lovely home. "

MANAGER

Teresa Stephenson

Our Registered Home Manager, Teresa Stephenson, started her career as a kitchen assistant back in 2000. She was then asked by her manager to become a care assistant because of her kind nature. She quickly climbed the ladder becoming a senior care assistant a post she was in for 11 years. Realising she couldn’t advance in her career where she was, she got a position at Sovereign Lodge where she became Deputy Manager and eventually achieving the Manager’s position. Teresa operates an open door policy, so feel free to approach her and air any concerns or queries you may have.
