Located in the centre of Jarrow, a town on the River Tyne with a colourful mining history, Roseway House has been recently refurbished and offers nursing, residential, dementia and respite care.
The focus is on person-centred care and our friendly and approachable nursing and support teams work hard to create a bright and engaging atmosphere within the home. In addition to forty eight ensuite rooms, which can all be furnished and personalised by each resident, the two quiet lounges and spacious communal lounge are other areas for residents to unwind and spend time with friends and family. We offer: Nursing Care, Residential Care, Dementia Care and Respite Care
At Roseway House we encourage our residents to maintain their activities and individual interests. We have a vibrant gardening club, and on sunny days, those not taking part in green-fingered activities are happy to enjoy time on the patio or in the large garden that runs the full length of the home.
We have a reminiscence room and lively sessions take place here, in addition to the external trips taken to coffee mornings at the local church or sea.
Our residents will be able to keep active and continue their individual interests as they would at home. Specialist Lifestyle Support workers are located within each home, planning in advance a full programme of engaging events and projects to promote social interaction while also targeting mental and physical stimulation for people living with us.
Our homes benefit from health and beauty treatments, baking, our dedicated male orientated “Men’s Sheds”, trips and many more. We try to engage with our local community as much as possible and have an open door policy for family and friends.
We recognise that mealtimes are a focal part of any day. Nutritional well-being is vital to maintaining a healthy mind and body. Our regularly reviewed menus with resident input, provide a well-balanced nutritious choice of food which also caters for people who require special diets. There is an alternative menu available just in case people would like a change. Drinks, snacks and nibbles including fruit are available through the day and the night.
We also welcome residents who like to bake, cook or help themselves when they would like. We can also cater for parties and celebrations for the people who live in our homes and their families and friends.
Residents will be off to pet the lovely spring lambs at the nearby farm on 10th April, weather permitting.
On 12th April we have The Reminiscence Tour from 2-3pm and residents will be stepping back in time, with the help of the virtual reality goggles.
We have the brilliant Dave Brewis here between 2-3pm on 20th April, so put your dancing shoes on and join us for an afternoon of rock ‘n roll.
As its National Care Home Day on 21st April our doors will be open to everyone. Do come along and help us celebrate. We will be ‘visiting’ three commonwealth countries in one day… Australia, Pakistan and Trinidad & Tobago. Bollywood dancers will be entertaining everyone at 2pm with carnival music and and then there will be further dancing from 3.30 pm onwards. We will also be having a visit from the Mayor of South Tyneside.
Roseway has a history of welcoming volunteers to the home to support the people who are cared for and live in the home. We are hugely grateful to all of our volunteers and we are proud to bring the community closer to the people living in the home through our volunteers.
If you are interested in being a volunteer at Roseway or any of our homes, please get in touch through the Contact Us form on this website.
