Welcome to Hillcrest

Built in the 1800s as a family home for a wealthy brewing family, the Georgian grandeur of this impressive building has been added to and modernised over the years, having served as a local maternity hospital in the 1950s and gaining a modern extension in the 1990s.

Our home shares the pretty historic town of Alnwick with the famous Harry Potter castle itself. Warkworth Castle, ancient home to the Neville family, is also just a short distance away.

We are proud of our reputation for care and focus on employing professional and experienced team members who have a passion for helping others. Our core nursing and care team are supported by a wider and equally dedicated team of housekeeping, catering, management and local volunteers.  We offer: Nursing Care, Residential Care, Dementia Care and Respite Care

  • Life at Hillcrest

    Life at Hillcrest

Our modernised 1800s Georgian home with thirty eight recently refurbished rooms are comfortable and homely. We have two separate dining rooms, two large lounges and an additional quiet room on the ground floor.

Our Resident’s Steering Committee is actively involved in the running of the home and gives additional support to planning and organising social activities, from day trips to a monthly pub quiz, so that we can maintain an active and independent focus to daily lives.

  • Lifestyle

Our residents will be able to keep active and continue their individual interests as they would at home. Specialist Lifestyle Support workers are located within each home, planning in advance a full programme of engaging events and projects to promote social interaction and mentally and physically stimulate those we care for.

Our homes benefit from health and beauty treatments, hairdressing, trips and many more. For our male residents we have our group wide “Mens Sheds” initiative and very willing staff and volunteers to assist continue in hobbies or to catch those sporting events close to your heart!  We work very hard to ensure we engage with our local community as much as possible and our Manager and staff are very proud to represent an important service in the community.

  • Meals

We recognise that mealtimes are a focal part of any day. Nutritional well-being is vital to maintaining a healthy mind and body. Our regularly reviewed menus with resident input, provide a well-balanced nutritious choice of food which also caters for people who require special diets. There is an alternative menu available just in case people would like a change. Drinks, snacks and nibbles including fruit are available through the day and the night.

We also welcome residents who like to bake, cook or help themselves when they would like.  We can also cater for parties and celebrations for the people who live in our homes and their families and friends.
